Bringing Your Vision to Life:The Personalized Tattoo Creation Process

Creating a custom, large-scale tattoo is a deeply personal experience. I specialize in designing exclusive pieces tailored to your values and self-expression. Together, we’ll uncover the imagery that truly represents you, and with my expertise, I’ll bring that vision to life in a unique and flawless design, just for you.

Below I explain the basic steps in creating a Japanes style sleeve, however the same process can be applied to any body part or size of design.

01

Decide On Main Subject

In this example we've chosen Koi. We've decided to have the Koi swimming up stream representing spring. We've also decided to colour the Koi gold to represent wealth and luck.

The subject matter is endless, Some other examples could be: Dragon,Snake,Oni,Kintaro, kitsune, etc.

You could also keep it simple with floral themes such as: Peony,Chrysanthemum,Lotus, or Maple leaves.

02

Add Relating Elements

We've gone with Koi swimming up stream. So we've added flowing water and waves to convey the ebb and flow of life, as well as the perseverance required to navigate the obstacles on one's chosen path.

Alternatively we Could have added more symbolism with other elements like: a waterfall, rocks throughout, or clouds at the top.

03

Include Other Symbolism

Since we chose to represent spring via the Koi swimming up stream, we can add Cherry Blossoms because they only bloom in spring. They bring added symbolism to the design representing birth, delicate beauty, yet short fleeting nature of life,

However we could tell a different story using Different flowers like lotus for example. Or by incorporating some of the elements discussed above.

04

End Results

We end up with a uniquely personalized tattoo, that tells the story of the person wearing it.

I'm only scratching the surface of the symbolism in this example, I could go much more in depth with each element of this design, but my goal here is to give an idea of process more than educate about the content.
